Ice rains in Ukraine cause major ice-slick, obstruct traffic

173 Ukrainian towns were left without electricity and situational mode were introduced for transport

Ice rains that started on December 10 caused a major ice-slick situation in Ukraine. In Kyiv, traffic jams formed in the morning due to ice. Transport runs with a deviation from the schedule

173 Ukrainian towns in three regions were left without electricity as a result of weather conditions. This was reported by the Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The towns and cities were de-energized in the Kyiv (79), Zhytomyr (58) and Chernivtsi (36) regions. Brigades of regional power distribution companies were involved in the restoration of power supply.

“On December 10, due to worsening weather conditions (rain at sub-zero temperatures), in order to prevent accidents and traffic jams, a temporary restriction of the movement of large-sized vehicles and buses on national roads was introduced during the processing of the road surface with special equipment of Ukraine’s Road Service,” the message says.

Restrictions on the movement of such vehicles were introduced in Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Rivne, Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions.

      • Yeah. Why did she try to stand up? She was doing great on her hands and knees. Funniest part was at the end when she stopped in the middle of the road, and saw the woman on the other pavement, walking as though nothing was wrong. LMAO

        • In Ukraine you need the right shoes for sure. I used to marvel at the Ukrainian women that scoot around on the ice wearing high heels and then think they must act like an ice pick meanwhile I probably looked like that little girl, lol…
