Ukrainian servicemen accompanied U2 frontman Bono as he premiered his documentary Stories of Surrender at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.

They walked the red carpet alongside Bono’s bandmate The Edge and actor-director Sean Penn.

Bono used the spotlight to call on Europe to stand with Ukraine and its defenders in their fight against russian fascism: “I want to thank you, because you are defending our freedom. Thank you! Thank you! Glory to Ukraine!”

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh has become a true legend!

This week in Tokyo, she won gold at the World Athletics Continental Tour, clearing 1.96 meters on her first attempt.

Earlier this season, she claimed her second Diamond League gold, clearing 2.00 meters — marking her 10th consecutive Diamond League victory.

In 2024, at just 23 years old, Yaroslava was named Female Athlete of the Year. She broke a 37-year-old world record by becoming the first woman in history to clear 2.10 meters — and she topped it off with Olympic gold in Paris.

Yaroslava is more than an athlete. She’s a symbol of Ukrainian strength, resilience, and excellence.

Poland is preparing for a possible war with russia.

Since 2022, Poland has tripled its defense budget — a sign of how seriously it takes the threat of russian aggression.

The scale is massive:

Over 8,000 missiles
More than 2,000 artillery units
Thousands of other weapons and military systems

Procurement is underway from both domestic manufacturers and global defense suppliers.

The message is clear: Appeasement is over. Readiness begins now.

It looks like that Putin is preparing for war with NATO.

Russia is building up military forces near the border with Finland – constructing bases, bunkers, training grounds, and other military infrastructure in the area.

I can’t believe that people don’t see how the history is repeating itself. In 1938, British PM Neville Chamberlain signed the Munich agreement with Adolf Hitler, and famously called it “peace for our time.”

The agreement is now regarded as a classic example of appeasing the aggressor. It led to Czechoslovakia being divided by Germany. Later it led Hitler to expanding his aggression and became one of the reasons of WWII. We should learn from historical mistakes, not repeat them.

EU is launching €150 billion defence fund.

The European Union has agreed to establish the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) fund, worth €150 billion.

The fund will provide loans to EU member states and select other countries, including Ukraine, to support projects that enhance European defence capabilities.

Zelensky and the Ukrainian delegation meet Pope Leo XIV for the first time.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the Pontiff for the audience, saying:

“We thank the Vatican for its willingness to serve as a platform for direct negotiations between Ukraine and russia. We are ready for dialogue in any format for the sake of real results. Thank you for supporting Ukraine and for your clear voice in defense of a just and lasting peace.”
