US President Donald Trump has said he was surprised by a five-hour meeting between his special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Witkoff knew almost nothing about the Kremlin leader.
He said this during a meeting in the Knesset parliament in Israel, Censor.NET reports .
The American leader praised Witkoff, calling him a “good guy” who “everyone loves.”
According to Trump, when he sent the special envoy to meet with Russia , he expected the meeting to last 15-20 minutes because “Steve had no idea about Russia, [didn’t know] too much about Putin and politics.”
But when he called an hour after Witkoff’s call with Putin began to ask if he had already resigned, he was told he was still with the Russian president. The same thing happened when he called two and three hours later.
