Porsche owners in Russia have experienced widespread vehicle blocking due to problems with their standard satellite alarm systems.
According to Shot , hundreds of Porsches “turned into bricks” and refused to start due to a loss of satellite communication. Complaints came in from Moscow, Krasnodar, and several other cities. Some owners managed to start their cars after the battery was disconnected for about ten hours, but many had to call a tow truck.
The problem does exist, Rolf dealership confirmed to RBC: since November 28, the number of calls regarding Porsche immobilization has increased sharply. According to Rolf Service Director Yulia Trushkova, the system has stopped responding “for all models and all engine types.” She clarified that any Porsche could potentially be affected. Currently, the only way to restore control is to disassemble and reset the alarm unit, but the cause of the malfunction remains unknown. The company does not rule out the possibility that the malfunction was “intentional.”
Some Mercedes owners report similar problems, but these are isolated cases and do not result in the car being completely inoperable, unlike Porsches, where the car essentially becomes a “brick”: the engine does not start, the starter does not respond, the fuel supply is blocked, and the alarm itself often goes into emergency mode.
Porsche ceased car deliveries to Russia in 2022, citing “uncertainty and upheaval.” However, the brand has not officially left the market. Three legal entities remain registered in the country: Porsche Russia, Porsche Center Moscow, and PFS Russia. Company representatives noted that attempts to sell the business were unsuccessful.
