Improving the management system in the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will improve the quality of target detection and ensure the reliability of their destruction with less ammunition.
This was announced in an exclusive interview with our colleagues from Defense Express by the Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky
“This year we began the process of improving the management system by creating so-called tactical operations centers (TOCs), which are equipped with appropriate hardware and software,” said Alexander Syrsky.

He also stressed that four brigades already have equipped TOCs and are actively using them, and in a year all combat brigades of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be equipped with them. In particular, the Commander of the Land Forces said: “I can say that this year we have conducted training of four brigades in a row with the use of TOC. Over the next year, we plan to complete the equipping of tactical operational centers of all combat brigades in the Land Forces.

It is important to note that tactical operations centers in the Land Forces are organized according to NATO standards and allow for a qualitative increase in the level of cooperation with Allied partners.
“In setting up our TOCs, we also took into account the need to move to a new troop management system that meets the standards and procedures of the North Atlantic Alliance,” he told Defense Express.
The Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the TOC is a specially equipped and equipped with technical means place from which units are managed during the preparation of the battle and during its conduct, and that their appearance is due to a significant increase in information circulating. modern battlefield, the development of modern means and methods of armed struggle, as well as a drastic reduction in the time available to the commander to make an informed decision.

This should ensure efficient execution of tasks. In these tactical operations centers, the so-called “battle triangle” is created, which combines means of reconnaissance, electronic warfare and fire destruction. This is done in order to improve the quality of target detection and ensure the reliability of their defeat while reducing resource costs – simply put, to hit the enemy with less ammunition. This is the so-called fire circuit.

Oleksandr Syrskyi also stressed that the provisions of the doctrine of joint training are being actively implemented in the Land Forces, according to which all activities are carried out jointly with other types and branches of troops, as well as other components of Ukraine’s security and defense sector. In view of this, the use of tactical operations centers “allows the commander of the mechanized brigade, based on the needs of the tactical situation, to quickly use the means of a senior commander, which, for example, is Bayraktar TB2.”
“I would like to note that the TOC has integrated all types of reconnaissance systems, including air reconnaissance with the help of UAVs. What is most interesting – including the possibility of using the resource Bayraktar TB2, allocated for a specific team, “- said Alexander Syrsky.

According to NATO member states, a tactical operations center is a command post set up for police, paramilitary or military operations. The TOC usually includes a small group of specially trained officers or military personnel who manage tactical units in the course of tasks.

The authors of the interview add that the automation of combat processes can increase the combat capabilities of troops (forces) by 15-20% and at the same time reduce by 50% the time spent by the authorities on operational planning and delivery of tasks to subordinates.
