The reason for this was Zelensky’s visit to Pennsylvania, organized by Markarova, where he was accompanied only by representatives of the Democrats.

House Speaker Mike Johnson is calling on President Volodymyr Zelensky to immediately fire Ukraine’s Ambassador to Washington, Oksana Markarova.
The reason for this was Zelensky’s visit to Pennsylvania, organized by Markarova, where he was accompanied only by representatives of the Democrats. Johnson assessed this as a pre-election event in support of Kamala Harris and interference in the American elections .
“After staging a partisan campaign event in a key U.S. state [Pennsylvania] this week, Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova has demonstrated that she cannot be trusted to serve honestly and effectively as a diplomat in this country. President Zelenskyy should remove her immediately,” the House speaker wrote .
He recalled Zelensky’s words that Ukrainians were trying to avoid “falling into the trap of American domestic politics” and “influencing the choice of the American people” ahead of the November elections.
“That goal was apparently abandoned this week when Ms. Markarova hosted an event where you visited an American manufacturing facility. That facility is located in a politically contentious state, run by a top political ally of Kamala Harris, and did not include a single Republican because – by design – no Republicans were invited,” he said.
He believed the tour “was clearly a partisan event in support of Democrats and is a clear interference in the election.” He explained:
“This short-sighted and deliberately political move has caused Republicans to lose confidence in Ms. Markarova’s ability to fairly and effectively serve as a diplomat in this country. She should be removed from her position immediately.”
The speaker claims that he has made it clear in the past that all foreign countries should refrain from interfering in American domestic politics.
“Support for ending Russia’s war against Ukraine remains bipartisan, but our relationship is unnecessarily strained and unnecessarily damaged when candidates leading the Republican presidential ticket are targeted in the media by officials of your government. Such incidents cannot be repeated. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, and I hope you will take appropriate action immediately,” he added.

As much as I like Ms Markarova, the speaker has a point. Taking a partisan position is not right for an ambassador. Unfortunately as much as anyone can argue whether it’s right or not it gives the orange idiot fodder for his campaign. That’s sad
President Zelensky visited the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant. Scranton is in Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district, whose representative is Matt Cartwright (a Democrat). Both of Pennsylvania’s senators are Democrats, as is Pennsylvania’s governor.
Why attack Ambassador Markarova just because all the relevant politicians happen to be Democrats?
LOL, you clearly triggered commie Larry, lmao…
I agree with you sir Cap, the politics is causing Ukraine to lose support, regardless of who is doing it. I will say it again, Reagan used to say politics stops at the water’s edge. THAT is good policy, not jumping on one side or the other which puts Ukraine in a bad position. Just as commie Larry and some others do here daily which only HURTS Ukraine but rabid Lefties like Larry and Scradge and others will never see it because they are blinded by their ideology.
“commie Larry”
LOL. I’m not a Communist, not a Socialist, not even a Democratic Socialist. Just a patriotic Democrat who loves his country and wants to keep America free.
Why the vitriolic attack, just because I’m standing up for Ukraine’s ambassador?
President Reagan never went to personal attacks. He had humor with self deprecating cuts with a smile. I guess it was during a different era where civility and class were important.
I agree with you, Sir Cap. She should’ve invited Republicans too. After all, there are plenty who support Ukraine and everything should be done to prevent giving ammo to the maga crowd.
It’s common practice for governors to meet with foreign leaders who travel to their states. In July, President Zelensky visited a factory in Utah and was hosted by that state’s Republican governor, Spencer Cox.
“visited an American manufacturing facility”
Johnson failed to mention the type of plant it was. It was a U.S. Army ammunition plant, which is certainly something that President Zelensky has a great interest in. You can see a video of his visit, which includes him signing some shells, here:
The description on the Youtube video:
In a significant diplomatic visit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr O. Zelenskyy toured the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on September 22, 2024. This event marks an important collaboration between the U.S. and Ukraine, highlighting the ongoing support and partnership in defense and security matters. (Fact-checking myself…)
The statement that “President Zelensky visited a factory in Utah” came from a Reuters article; a google search shows that he was in Utah for the National Governor’s Association meeting, but I couldn’t find confirmation about a factory visit.
Larry as I said in my initial comment doing what she did is only feeding fodder to the idiot. At this point we don’t need that shit with a loud mouth scum bag
Sir Cap,
As reported here a couple of days ago, on this trip to Pennsylvania President Zelensky also finalized an agreement between Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration and the state of Pennsylvania, in which Pennsylvania will help rebuild Zaporizhzhia region. Priority will be given to restoring its energy infrastructure.
I think that anyone who’s a supporter of Ukraine would agree that restoring energy infrastructure before winter hits is a worthy goal, even if it makes some loud mouth scum bags get butt-hurt.
Larry I hear you and see you. I’m not debating the reason for doing XYZ I’m only discussing the fallout. Personally I don’t give a damn. I’m only looking at what Trumpkov can do with it.
President Zelensky traveled to Scranton, Pa. to tour the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, which is making ammunition for the Ukrainian army.
He and his U.S. ambassador, Oksana Markarova, met there with Pennsylvania’s Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, as well as Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Pa.), who represents Scranton.
Rep. Susan Wild (D-Pa.), a staunch supporter of Ukraine, said “No other members were invited, including me, a Democratic member from an adjacent district.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the ranking member of the Oversight Committee, called Comer’s probe “as absurd and futile and embarrassing as their impeachment investigation against Joe Biden.”
“Ukraine is a democratic ally of the United States … so it’s disappointing that Speaker Johnson, who had really begun to make some progress in terms of defending democracy and freedom against Russian aggression, has now made himself party to the pro-Putin bloc again,” he added.
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), the co-chair of the Ukraine Caucus, said the Republican backlash against Zelensky’s trip “emphasizes why November matters … for democracy in Eastern Europe.”
