Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) said on Sunday that Russia’s strikes on civilian homes — including on Christmas — are a reminder to Americans that the war against Ukraine is at odds with America’s values.
In an interview on ABC News’s “This Week,” the former House Intelligence Committee chair pointed to images of the destruction in Ukrainian cities and neighborhoods and said Russian President Vladimir Putin is “continuing to remind us that this is a war of aggression.”
“As Putin mercilessly pounds Kyiv and civilian homes, this is Putin… reminding us that we can’t be for this,” he continued.
“America, when we address the issue of whose side we’re on, you can’t be America first and be pro-Russia,” Turner said. “Russia is a self-declared adversary of the United States. And, you know, here they are, mercilessly killing Ukrainians and trying to take Ukrainian land.”
The interview comes just hours before President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are set to meet in Florida to go over a revised 20-point peace plan, which reportedly would have Russia withdraw from several regions and would establish an $800 billion fund for post-war recovery efforts.
Zelensky appears ready to make serious concessions to end the nearly 4-year war, but Putin has yet to reciprocate.
Zelensky also continues to insist on security guarantees from Western allies to ensure Russia will not reinvade, which Turner said will be difficult to achieve.
“In this peace process, you know, as Russia wants Ukrainian concessions, it’s going to be much more difficult because Ukraine wants, of course, assurances that Russia is not going to come back, that the West is going to give them the assurances that they will deter Russia in the future,” Turner said. “And that’s going to be difficult to give the type of assurances that the West is going to rise to the occasion to keep Russia from just reassembling and coming back stronger.”

What values does the White House Taco have? A sane and intelligent mind can’t think of any, because Trump’s entire life was filled with lies, deception, and crimes. He is a convicted felon, a child rapist, a traitor, and so much more in the negative sense that it’s downright scary that so many Americans still voted for him.
Trump’s desire to hand a victory to the vicious aggressor, even a small one, goes completely against our values and what millions of Americans have fought for in the past hundred years.
For many reasons, Trump will go down in history as the worst U.S. President ever. What does this make his voters and supporters?
Due to the recurring and lengthy blackouts in Kyiv and the corresponding dead internet connection, I can participate here only sporadically.
My relatives say they are lucky to get 3 hours a day electricity. They are in the Kyiv region.
Yes, sometimes it’s around 3 hours. But, today, we’re lucky. We had power from 01:30 to 08:00, and now from 12:00 to 18:30. Power is scheduled to be back on at 22:30 until ?.

This is correct. In Kyiv, for instance, they have power on in certain districts while in others, it’s off. They change around every few hours.

If there is will, there is a way. Destroying the russian economy will work wonders, unlike the TACO deals that will allow mafia land to rearm and attack Europe. Maybe that has been the plan all along. The hatred for the EU and its laws are against everything that putler and TACO stand for. We are going back to might is right and fuck everyone else. Meanwhile China are just sitting patiently, knowing that the US will never defend Taiwan.
