“There can be no compromises – the Ukrainian people and language do not exist… There is no separate Ukrainian language. There are dialects of the Russian language.”
This horrifying statement was made not by a fringe nationalist, but by a prominent Russian state media host — broadcast across the country.
It may sound absurd. Offensive. Ridiculous.
But it’s far worse than that.
It is deliberate, systematic, and deadly.
This isn’t just a propaganda slogan — it’s the ideological foundation of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
When you deny a people’s existence, their language, their culture — you pave the way for their destruction.
When you say a nation is “fake,” you make real violence against them justifiable.
This war is not about NATO.
It’s not about geopolitical “security.”
It is a war about identity — and the imperial need to erase it.
In Bucha, civilians were executed in the street.
In Mariupol, entire neighborhoods were buried under rubble and silence.
In occupied territories, children are taken, schools are “re-educated,” books are burned.
Why? Because Ukrainians dare to be Ukrainian — to speak their language, to write their history, to reject Moscow’s myth.
And that is intolerable to an empire built on the idea of “one people, one language, one faith.”
In my latest article, I explore how this war is not just a military conflict — it is an ideological genocide in progress. –

– Deny the Nation, Justify the Killing: The Logic of Russia’s War against Ukraine

This is a war of intention. A war designed to erase a people.

🛡️ Defending Ukrainian identity today is defending the principle that no state has the right to rewrite others out of existence.

Please read, share, and speak out. Silence in the face of such ideology is complicity.

“the Ukrainian people and language do not exist” sounds like Stalin’s wet dream. This is Holodomor 2.0.

And for the more “head in the sand” among us, next there is no Baltic People, Polish People, pan-Slavic People, or even European People.

Either we start preparing for War, or we start learning Cyrillic script
