“Hmeimim-Ulyanovsk”: Russians used a caravan of planes and ships to escape from Syria

Apparently, Russia is counting on agreements with anti-government forces for an unhindered withdrawal from Syria.

Moscow deployed a convoy of aircraft and ships to withdraw its military contingent from Syria, where the regime of dictator Bashar Assad was overthrown.

As the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports on Telegram , to retreat from the Syrian Republic, the Russians used a caravan of military transport ships, which are loading the remnants of troops, weapons, and military equipment.

In particular, this concerns the Khmeimim air base, which is operated by Russia in Syria and is located southeast of the city of Latakia. According to intelligence, the Russian occupiers have planned flights from there of several An-124 and Il-76MD aircraft on routes to airfields in the Russian Federation – Ulyanovsk, Chkalovsk, and Privolzhskaya.

In addition, Moscow is attracting additional fleet assets – in the city of Baltiysk (Russia) they ordered to prepare the dry cargo ship “Sparta II” and the large landing ship “Alexander Shabalin” for departure to the Syrian Tartus. The large landing ships of the Russian Northern Fleet “Alexander Otrakovsky” and “Ivan Gren” also set course for the Mediterranean Sea.

“The enemy frigates Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko are also participating in the operation “Syrian Retreat”. In the port of Tartus, the Russians are carrying out emergency dismantling of equipment and military property,” the report says.

Ukrainian intelligence officers found out that hundreds of Russian special forces arrived in Tartus to ensure a safe retreat.

It is assumed that the Kremlin is counting on agreements with anti-government forces for an unhindered withdrawal from Syria. This may be evidenced even by the fact that representatives of “Moscow diplomacy” no longer call the groups that rebelled against the Assad regime “terrorists”. Currently, Russian diplomats demonstrate a kind of neutral, even “sweet” public rhetoric.

At the same time, according to intelligence, frustration and depression continue among the remnants of the Russian contingent in Syria. It is said that some Russian soldiers are even expressing dissatisfaction with their commanders, in particular with their organizational incompetence. Currently, one of the military bases with Russian soldiers is under siege.
