Anne Applebaum has a point. We better help Ukraine not “as long as it takes”, but rather “as quickly as possible” and “as much as needed” 🙏

I never bought the concept of “as long as it takes” in combination with “surival”, which unfortunately is championed by our German chancellor and his party as their main mantra. It sounded too much like “live support” to me, not a strong concept when facing a villain using extreme violence in combination with dark genocidal / colonialist dreams. Soon after Scholz’ zeitenwende speech better ideas, critical thinking and better differentiation developed, and of course it should be “to achieve the main goal – e.g. of getting russia stopped and out of Europa”, combined with a robust containment strategy (basically a fortified border and sufficient troops and gear to defend it, keeping russia out as long as we want it that way). 😎

Here is a formal letter from the Russian Academy of Sciences dated last September to the Russian government giving a status and action items and recommended schedule for proceeding on the de-westernization of the Russian Population.

“After the conclusion of the SMO in Ukraine and the fall of the Kyiv regime, Russia’s confrontation with the West will not stop, but will only intensify.”
