The head of the Russian delegation, deputy chairman of the State Duma Petr Tolstoy, was elected vice-speaker of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .
According to Interfax-Ukraine, PACE delegates elected Tolstoy as vice speaker on the second attempt.
In the second round, voting took place behind closed doors. A simple majority of the number of parliamentarians present in the hall voted for him – 132 against 117.
A private vote on Tolstoy proposed holding a people’s deputy from the Servant’s faction, Maria Mezentseva, because, in her words, “Tolstoy’s rhetoric is contrary to European values.”
We will remind that the people’s deputy from fraction of the Servant of the people Alexander Merezhko is elected the vice president of PACE.
The representative of Belgium, Hendrik Dams, became PACE President .
On January 27, PACE suspended the confirmation of the credentials of the Russian delegation at the request of more than 30 delegates from different countries.
The issue of the credentials of the delegation of the Russian Federation will be studied in the committees of the Assembly, and only after that a final decision is made.

Absolutely disgraceful. Ukraine should withdraw from this fake, useless human rights organisation immediately. This is a statement made by this so called politician.

Nice to see a democratic organisation having a secret vote, so nobody knows who voted for the mafia man.
We do know anyway. Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Italy, Belgium and Greece.
Considering the recent changes to the Moskali constitution, the Moskali are not compatible in ANY international organizations.
