The Slovak Prime Minister sees no point in new personal meetings with the Ukrainian President
Slovakia considers Ukraine’s membership in the EU beneficial for itself , but a direct dialogue between the leaders of the countries “does not make sense” due to the personal animosity between them. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated this on local television, as quoted by the Aktuality publication .
“Ukraine’s membership in the EU brings Slovakia more advantages than disadvantages,” said Fico, noting that it would also be quite beneficial for Ukraine itself.
At the same time, the Slovak Prime Minister does not want to see Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky due to their personal conflict. Instead, he is ready to talk to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
“My meeting with President Zelenskyy makes no sense, because he hates me. I see no reason to meet with the President of Ukraine,” Fico stressed.
In this context, he once again complained that Ukraine does not want to kindly pump Russian gas, which the Fico government buys at a favorable rate.
“I am the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, and my task is to ensure and do everything possible to ensure that gas prices in Slovakia do not increase due to Ukraine,” Fico said, emphasizing that the halt in gas transit was the result of the irrational “obsession with Russia” of officials in Kyiv and Brussels.

Hes got it completly wrong, like most morons in positions or power/decision making: gas prices increase due to Ukraine, no, due to Russia, do the algebra.
