The candidate for the presidency of the United States considers proposals for Ukraine’s neutrality and surrender of large parts of the territory to be capitulation, not peace.
The Vice President of the United States of America, Kamala Harris , who is running for the post of president, strongly reacted to proposals to surrender a significant territory of Ukraine.
According to the correspondent of UNIAN, this happened during a joint announcement with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, at the press conference in the White House.
Harris recalled that at the first Peace Summit in Switzerland, she told Zelensky that the United States shared Ukraine’s vision of ending the war. In particular, according to her, this should take into account the will of the people of Ukraine and the principles of the UN Charter.
“We must work with the international community to ensure a just and lasting peace. And I told the world leaders there that nothing about ending the war can be decided without Ukraine,” Harris said.
At the same time, although Harris did not name specific names, she clearly explained how she feels about the latest proposals of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his team.
“However, I frankly share with you, Mr. President (Zelensky, – ed.), that there are some in my country who, instead, would force Ukraine to give up large parts of the sovereign territory of Ukraine, who would demand that Ukraine agree to neutrality , which would require Ukraine to give up security relations with other countries.
These proposals are the same as Putin’s. These are not proposals for peace. Instead, these are proposals for capitulation, which are dangerous and unacceptable. , – emphasized Harris.
She assured that she will continue to cooperate with Zelenskyi to ensure Ukraine’s victory in the war, and that our country remains a free, democratic and independent state.
In particular, Harris noted that her support for the people of Ukraine is unwavering. She reminded that she had already met with Zelenskyi six times before and did not change her position.
“I will continue to advocate for Ukraine and I will work to ensure Ukraine’s victory in this war,” Harris assured.
The vice president added that the United States must continue to fulfill its longstanding role as a global leader for security, defense and prosperity.
“We must stand up for our allies and our partners. We must defend our democratic values and oppose the aggressors,” Harris said.
She added that the United States should uphold the international order, rules and regulations. And each of these principles is under threat in Ukraine. That is why, according to the vice president of the USA, the struggle of Ukraine is important for people in America.
Harris noted that the Ukrainian people courageously defend their homes and Motherland, their freedom and democracy against the cruel dictator Vladimir Putin.
“Putin’s aggression is not only an attack on the people of Ukraine. It is also an attack on fundamental principles such as sovereignty and territorial integrity. International rules and norms are not an abstract concept.
They ensure order and stability in our world. They support American security and prosperity . And when they are threatened somewhere, they are threatened everywhere,” the American official emphasized.
She noted that if aggressors like Putin are allowed to seize countries’ lands with impunity, they will continue to do so.
“And Putin could turn his sights on Poland, the Baltics and other NATO allies. We also know that other potential aggressors around the world are watching to see what happens in Ukraine.
If Putin is allowed to win, they will be emboldened. And history reminds we are very clear that the United States cannot and should not isolate itself from the rest of the world,” Harris said.
The vice-president emphasized that the USA supports Ukraine not out of mercy, but because of strategic interest.
“We will continue to provide the security assistance that Ukraine needs to succeed on the battlefield,” Harris added.

Hear, hear.
“Harris recalled that at the first Peace Summit in Switzerland, she told Zelensky that the United States shared Ukraine’s vision of ending the war. In particular, according to her, this should take into account the will of the people of Ukraine and the principles of the UN Charter.”
This is the right approach, and I’m glad that Mrs. Harris supports this. There is hope that, if elected, she will be a stronger president than Biden. She certainly will be a better one than Trump, who constantly bellows mafia narratives.
