Another drone incident has occurred at a German airport. Flight operations in Hanover were disrupted after a sighting. Investigators suspect the incident was an act of sabotage with foreign involvement.

This was reported by “Der Spiegel, ” citing an internal police report. According to the report, “the existence of hybrid activity cannot be ruled out,” which could indicate involvement by foreign states. Authorities say a connection to the investigation into the suspected drone attack at Leipzig Airport cannot yet be established.

The drone alert was triggered when an employee of the freight company DB Schenker spotted the aircraft within the no-fly zone. Following initial sightings by police patrols at the airport fence, all flight operations were suspended around 4:00 a.m. Prior to this, air traffic had already been diverted to the northern runway.

The Federal Police’s technology is not detecting any issues

After a brief reopening, the drone reappeared above the TUI Fly airline building, and shortly afterward, according to reports, it hovered “directly above the taxiway/apron.” The airport had to be completely closed again and only resumed operations at 5:20 a.m. Prior to this, a cargo plane had been diverted, and there were also significant delays.

As the news magazine “Spiegel” also reports, the Federal Police were unable to protect the airport. Despite an active countermeasure, the warning systems failed to activate, and air traffic control was unable to locate the device. Based on the two-hour flight time, investigators suspect it was a highly sophisticated, non-commercial drone.

  1. Will Germany send drones over russian airfields, airports, military installations, naval shipyards? No, it will not. It will do absolutely nothing. Germany’s leader is a limp-wristed coward.
