In total, 51% of young people in France said that they are ready to fight if it is necessary to defend the interests of their country.

A poll was conducted in France , which shows that 51% of the country’s youth are ready to take up arms and fight in Ukraine if it is necessary to protect the interests of their state. This is stated in the results of the survey, which was commissioned by the Institute for Strategic Studies of the Military School (IRSEM) and the General Directorate for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS).

It is known that DGRIS and IRSEM are bodies that function within the structure of the French Ministry of Defense. The survey was conducted among 2,300 French people aged 18 to 25. It was published on April 12, but it was still held in the summer of 2023.

When they were asked if they had to defend France during the war in Ukraine, would they go to fight for their country, to which 51% of French young people answered “yes”. Among them, 17% gave a sure answer, another 34% said “probably yes”.

There was also a similar question, but without mentioning Ukraine, whether they would defend France, 57% of respondents answered that they are ready to defend France in the event of a possible war.

In turn, 62% of respondents believe that it is necessary to restore the general military service, which France abolished in 1997.

  1. Good!
Those with some military training behind them could volunteer for Ukraine’s Foreign Legion, where they will find some Frenchman already there. As well as British, American, Scandies and others.

  2. Slowly but surely I must bid farewell to the concept that France is a country of white flag-wavers.
