As a result of the cyberattack, 370 servers and about 500 network switches were disabled, and so-called backups were erased.

Cyber ​​specialists of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense, with the support of cyber activists, conducted a successful operation and paralyzed the work of one of the largest Internet providers in Siberia – Orion Telecom. 

As a source in the special services told UNIAN, the networks of this provider were actively used by Russian security forces to carry out aggression against Ukraine. A closed city specializing in uranium mining was left without communication: “Orion Telecom” was the only provider there.

According to the interlocutor, since the very morning, local public forums in Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Bratsk, and Abakan have been filled with complaints from disgruntled Russians complaining about the lack of Internet and television. A letter allegedly from Ukrainian hackers to the Internet provider is being distributed in local Telegram groups. 

“Happy holiday, disrespectful Russians, soon you will live in the Stone Age, and we will help you. Glory to Ukraine,” is the letter signed by activists of the hacker group “BO Team.”     

The company confirmed that there were technical problems due to a powerful DDoS attack. They promise to restore internet service by the end of the day. 

According to intelligence sources, the cyberattack took down 370 servers and about 500 network switches, and wiped out so-called backups. This will not allow the provider to quickly resume operations.

Operations of Ukrainian special services

As UNIAN reported, on June 1, the SBU conducted a unique special operation “Web” to simultaneously destroy four military airfields in the rear of the Russian Federation: “Olenya”, “Ivanovo”, “Dyagilevo” and “Belaya”. The strategic aviation of the aggressor state, which regularly shelled peaceful Ukrainian cities, was based there.

To conduct the special operation “Web”, UAVs were used, which were specially designed and manufactured by engineers of the Security Service of Ukraine.

These drones are a unique development of the Security Service of Ukraine using modern technologies, which allowed them to be remotely controlled, in real time, thousands of kilometers from the state border of Ukraine, bypass the enemy’s existing countermeasures, and effectively destroy strategic aviation.
