Germany will transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine: Fedorov said when they will arrive

11 May 2026

  • Germany is funding the purchase of hundreds of Patriot missiles, which Ukraine will begin receiving next year.
  • Germany is also funding the production of interceptor drones and the transfer of IRIS launchers and missiles for them.

On Monday, May 11, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, discussed support for our country. This is Pistorius’s seventh visit to Kyiv.

Details are transmitted by Channel 24.

When will Ukraine receive air defense missiles for the Patriot?

According to Fedorov, German support accounts for about a third of all military aid to Ukraine.

Berlin has already begun financing the purchase of hundreds of missiles, which were discussed not long ago.

Starting next year, we will begin receiving these missiles, and this is an unprecedented aid package for us,
” said the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.

He emphasized that today Germany is the number one country in terms of aid security and that this support is of high quality.

Fedorov also recalled that in the winter of 2026, Boris Pistorius, at Ramstein, initiated the allocation of dozens of additional PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine. This was done so that our country could repel Russian attacks on critical infrastructure in January, February, and March.

For reference, the PAC-3 is a Patriot missile. A single Patriot launcher can carry 16 PAC-3 missiles, meaning a single system can destroy up to 16 targets without reloading, significantly more than the PAC-2. The PAC-3 missile weighs only 218 kilograms and is equipped with an active radar homing head. The Ministry of Defense has stated that it is the most effective missile against Iskander ballistic missiles and hypersonic Kinzhal and Tsirkon missiles.

“Every missile was invaluable to us, as we were able to intercept numerous ballistic missiles that were attacking our thermal power plants and energy facilities. For us, this is a personal example of leadership, as we were able to protect our critical infrastructure,
” Fedorov said.

In addition, Germany is funding the production of interceptor drones, the transfer of IRIS launchers and missiles for them, and Ukrainian mid-strikes and deep-strikes.

Overall, this country is a leader in supporting Ukraine’s air defense and other relevant areas. For example, support for drone assault units, which are part of the new war doctrine.

Please note! On April 15, the Ministry of Defense announced that such units integrate aerial and ground drones with infantry into a single system. They have already proven themselves in the South, helping liberate numerous territories.

What is the agreement between Ukraine and Germany regarding the Patriot air defense system?

The supply agreement was reached on April 14.

The €4 billion defense package will include several hundred Patriot missiles and 36 IRIS-T launchers. It will also include joint production of AI-powered mid-strike drones, with a starting price of 5,000.
