Germany will join the United States in the supply of Patriot complexes to Ukraine.
This was reported at the White House following a telephone conversation between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
It is noted that during the conversation, the leaders of the states exchanged views on the “aggressive war that Russia is waging against Ukraine” and reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, as well as “unshakable solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the face of Russian aggression.
“President Biden and Chancellor Scholz expressed their common determination to continue to provide the necessary financial, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support to Ukraine for as long as necessary. To this end, the United States intends to supply Ukraine with the M2 Bradley BMP, and Germany with the Marder BMP,” the White House said.
It is specified that both countries plan to train the Ukrainian military on the relevant systems.
Biden and Scholz also reaffirmed their intention to continue to support Ukraine’s urgent need for air defense capabilities.
It is recalled that at the end of December, the United States announced the transfer of a Patriot anti-aircraft missile battery to Ukraine.
Therefore, Scholz noted that Germany would transfer an additional battery of Patriot complexes to Ukraine.
