A loud statement was made after the drone attack on Leipzig airport

Germany should threaten Russia with the transfer of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine if the Kremlin does not stop hybrid attacks on German infrastructure.

As RBC-Ukraine reports , this was stated by the leader of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) Wolfgang Kubitsky on N-tv .

A German politician has called on the German authorities to take a clear diplomatic response after the drone attack on Leipzig airport, which is believed to be carried out by Russia.

In his opinion, the threat to provide Kyiv with powerful weapons should be an effective warning to Moscow against further sabotage in Europe.

“A reasonable person would now call the Russian ambassador and tell him: we have not yet delivered the Taurus missile, but if this hybrid threat to Germany continues, we will do everything to ensure that Ukraine receives the weapons necessary for large-scale defense against Russia,” Kubitsky emphasized.

It is worth noting that the Free Democratic Party of Germany has long been one of the most active supporters of providing Ukraine with long-range weapons. However, according to the results of the last parliamentary elections, this political force did not enter the Bundestag.

Taurus missiles for Ukraine

Recall that while in opposition, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz repeatedly announced his intention to transfer Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine for strikes on Russian territory.

After he came to power, Merz did not change his mind. In particular, in July last year, the head of the German government did not rule out the transfer of this weaponry to Ukraine .

At the same time, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated during a visit to Kyiv last year that Berlin was not considering transferring these missiles to Ukraine.

It should be noted that at the end of last year, the German parliament called on Merz to transfer long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine , because the chancellor must adhere to what he rightly demanded while in opposition.

RBC-Ukraine wrote that in March, Merz said that he no longer sees any point in transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine , as he believes Ukrainian weapons are more effective.
