The money will come from funds already approved by the Bundestag.

Germany has agreed to new military aid to Ukraine worth about 5 billion euros, the country’s Ministry of Defense website reported .

It is noted that Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov signed an agreement in Berlin to finance the supply of Ukrainian-made long-range weapons. In addition, a contract was concluded between Ukraine and the German military industry.

The total amount of new support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be around five billion euros. The money will come from funds already approved by the Bundestag.

The agreement is also based on Germany’s commitment to invest directly in Ukrainian arms production. In particular, Germany will continue to supply ammunition for various military systems, including air defense systems.

Berlin will also finance repair facilities in Ukraine, thereby strengthening the resilience of the Ukrainian armed forces. The Germans will also finance medical equipment, also produced in Ukraine. In addition, it is noted that financing for a significant part of the satellite communication system has already been completed.

The satellite system is guaranteed to continue operating for a long period of time. The same applies to the military command and control communications system. The Ministry of Defense notes:

“Partial direct investment in the Ukrainian military industry and cooperation between arms companies is a stated goal of the German government for the long-term and sustainable strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities.”

In turn, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said on Facebook that Germany ‘s decision to finance military aid for 5 billion euros has already been approved by the Bundestag.

He also named three main outcomes of the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Berlin today.

First, we are talking about long-range weapons for Ukraine.

“We have signed a Letter of Intent, according to which Germany will finance the purchase of Ukrainian long-range weapons worth hundreds of millions of euros. This is a direct strengthening of our defense industry and the Defense Forces, which use deep strike weapons,” Umerov said.

Secondly, we are talking about a contract for air defense equipment.

“A contract has been signed with Diehl Defence for the production of IRIS-T systems and missiles for them. The total cost of the contract is 2.2 billion euros,” Umerov noted.

Thirdly, it is about medical equipment.

Germany will finance the purchase of Ukrainian-made medical equipment.

According to Umerov, Germany has pledged to support investments in the Ukrainian defense industry and to encourage others to do so, in particular in air defense.

Aid to Ukraine from Germany

Previously, the BILD publication wrote that the German government plans to provide the Ukrainian military industry with millions of euros for the independent development and mass production of cruise missiles with a flight range of up to 2,500 kilometers .

As noted, Kyiv is currently conducting research into such missiles and has already used several of them to strike Russian territory more than 400 kilometers behind the front line.
