At least two UAVs have been confirmed to have been hit, followed by a large fire.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the defeat of a military facility in the Russian city of Cheboksary, noting that the enterprise’s facilities produced antennas for “shahids.” This was reported on the General Staff’s Telegram channel .

“As part of reducing the enemy’s ability to manufacture air attack weapons, on the night of June 9, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, struck the facilities of JSC VNIIR-Progress, LLC ABS Electro, in the city of Cheboksary on the territory of the Chuvash Republic, Russian Federation. This is an object of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation, a manufacturer of navigation equipment,” the report says.

As specified by the General Staff, this military-industrial complex enterprise ensures the production of adaptive antennas “Kometa”, which are used in particular in strike UAVs of the “Shahed” type, unified planning and correction modules (UMPK) for guided aerial bombs (KAB), and other high-precision weapons.

“The object has been confirmed to have been hit by at least two UAVs and subsequently caused a large-scale fire. The results of the damage are being clarified,” the statement said.

The General Staff also reported that the Russians had to apply restrictions on the operation of airports (plan “Carpet”) in Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov and Tambov.

“Strikes on targets that support the armed aggression of the Russian Federation will continue until it is completely stopped against Ukraine,” the General Staff emphasized.

Attack on the Progress plant

As UNIAN reported, it became known in the morning that two UAVs hit a plant in the Russian city of Cheboksary that produces antennas for missiles and drones. This was reported by the local authorities. According to the head of the Ukrainian Center for the Study of Occupation, Petro Andryushchenko, disabling the plant would be a serious blow to the electronic “armor” of the Russian army. As Andryushchenko emphasized, this is about the possible shutdown of an entire segment of the protection of Russian military drones.

Also, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, called this enterprise “a very fat target” and noted that the Progress plant is involved in the rocket production cycle, including the Iskanders. In particular, it is there that electromechanical drives, hydraulic systems and control units for heavy military equipment are manufactured – from self-propelled howitzers to Iskander missile systems. Without these units, the missiles will not be able to reach their target.

He noted that the company’s products are used in Iskander-M operational-tactical missiles, Kalibr, Kh-101, Kh-69 cruise missiles, gliding aerial bombs (UMPK), Orlan-10 and Lancet drones, and new Shaheds.
