The new commander of the Russian Ground Forces is General Andrei Mordvichev, known for making the “meat assault” tactics the basis.

According to the SBU, it was Mordvichev who gave the order to seize Mariupol and storm Azovstal.

Before being appointed commander of the Ground Forces, Mordvichev commanded the troops of the Central Military District and the “Center” group of troops.

At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he commanded units of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, which destroyed and occupied Mariupol, and also stormed the Azovstal plant, where Ukrainian military personnel and civilians were hiding.

Russian media also reported that the occupation of Avdiivka, which was completely destroyed, was the work of Mordvichev.

Russian military leaders spoke negatively about Mordvichev’s tactics, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of Russian invaders.
