Fuel prices rise, support falls: Americans increasingly criticize Trump over war with Iran

Most Americans say they do not understand the real reasons behind US involvement in the war with Iran, and they blame President Donald Trump’s administration for the sharp rise in gas prices.

According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, about 66% of Americans believe that the White House has failed to clearly explain the objectives of the military campaign. Among those dissatisfied are not only Democrats but also some Republican supporters.

Pollsters also noted growing dissatisfaction over the economic consequences of the conflict. Nearly 63% of respondents said that rising fuel prices have already negatively impacted their household budget.

At the same time, the majority of respondents blame the Republicans:

Analysts note that the poll results could serve as a serious warning sign for Republicans ahead of the US congressional elections.
