FSB Says Closed Criminal Mutiny Case Against Prigozhin

The criminal case against Wagner mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin for “organizing an armed mutiny” has been closed, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Tuesday.

The confirmation comes a day after reports said the FSB was still actively investigating the case against Prigozhin, who this weekend launched an armed rebellion against the Russian military.

“During the investigation of the criminal case, it was established that its participants stopped their actions aimed at committing a rebellion,” the FSB’s press service said in a statement carried by state news agencies.

Prigozhin called off Wagner’s march on Moscow late Saturday as part of a last-ditch deal that offered him immunity from prosecution in exchange for standing down and going into exile in Belarus.

Charges of “inciting an armed uprising” are punishable by 12 to 20 years in prison.

  1. Welcome to mafia land, where a failed coup is acceptable, but this can get you 15 years in prison.

    Protestors

  2. Regardless what the FSB says someone is going to take a long walk off a short balcony pretty soon

  3. The Daily Wire’s “Morning Wire” news brief reported (for which I’m paraphrasing as closely as I can), putin had said, “the wagners were ‘misled’ by their leaders, but he would have had crushed them if it was necessary.” During the wagner mutiny, there was “radio silence” from china. The PRC’s spokesperson said, only AFTER putin was clearly in control, “as russia’s friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic partner, china supports russia in maintaining national stability, and achieving development, and prosperity.” It is speculated that china’s “alliance” with russia has weakened, perhaps considerably.

I hope Ukraine can convince the wagners within its borders, of the need to give up any trust of their orc lord. Make a new man out of themselves, because clearly putin refuses to accept failure. Even if a wagner conscript survives his “contract,” it may well be possible he wouldn’t survive once he got back home. So maybe those considering surrender, ought to think about a new “home,” if they won’t be bought back by their “tsar.”

  4. The first clause in “How to Interact With a Ruskie” is, always assume a lie when a ruskie says something. This goes especially for the crime syndicate.
