This is a graph of percentages of Ukrainians who voted for independence in 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
This is BEFORE Yanukovych murdered over 100 of his own citizens by shooting them in the streets during the Revolution of Dignity in February 2014. This is BEFORE the illegal annexation of Crimea in March 2014 and subsequent invasion of Luhansk and Donetsk a few weeks later (I was in Ukraine when that happened). This was BEFORE the fake republics in Luhansk and Donetsk were “established”.
This was BEFORE February 24th, 2022, when Putin further escalated the war, and since then cities have been razed to the ground and bombed, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been murdered, raped, and tortured, and millions have been forced to flee their homes and leave the country.
The feelings of Ukrainian independence and patriotic fervor existed in 1991, and have only grown exponentially since then because of the horrific actions taken by russia ever since.
These are facts, and to suggest otherwise is to spew the hateful and dishonest russian propaganda.

For us, such facts, as this map displays, are known to us and easy to comprehend. But, not everyone has a college degree or even a high school-level education. The moron from the gas station certainly is a few fries short of a Happy Meal.
