🟡My address at CNN Wolf Blitzer together with congressman Eric Swalwell

The situation in #Ukraine is very hard because it’s the 17th day of war and we don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Bombings and killings continue and Putin is getting crazier and crazier, using tools, reasons, and arguments justifying the killing of Ukrainians and it is very hard to see so many Ukrainian families caught in this tragedy. It is heartbreaking.

We are grateful for the support already provided by the US – speaking of sanctions and military assistance of course. It is really important for us to see a no-fly zone implemented because it would prevent new killings… less dead children and families. But we understand if there are concerns and arguments as not to expand the war, there could also be some other alternatives. However, I also want to warn that concerns about provoking Putin do not work, because Putin decided and invented his own reasons to start this aggression.

You know that Putin justified the attack on Mariupol’s maternity ward because he said that the chemical weapons of Ukraine and Nato partners were in the development process there – so it justified opening fire. Is that a sign of any humane value and consideration for human life. Putin is going to invent any reason to continue bombing and potentially invade NATO countries. So I think that we should not take any option off the table because the danger is very real and we need to save more lives right now.

The spirit of Ukrainians is inspiring right now – we are united politically and at every level of the civil society… in every village people are helping each other. I want to add what is important and what we are asking from the west right now is to stop trade and impose more economic measures on Russia so that there are no resources that finance Putin’s terror and war crimes. It is very important that what is planned to be done by the US comes into full force — talking about here oil embargo, different new economic sanctions that could stop war crimes or at least make them less likely.
