🇺🇦 Day 731 of the war in Ukraine!
Today is a date that the world should take seriously. This date is not about ceremonies, beautiful words and PR. This date is about grief, war and horror.
Two years ago, Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine. At that time they believed they could conquer Kiev in 3 days and the whole of Ukraine in 2 weeks. The Russian invaders entered Ukraine in full dress uniform as they confidently prepared to march through the streets of Ukraine in a victory parade. Even then our United States and the rest of the world was so afraid of Russia that they literally wrote off Ukraine, thinking why should they help Ukraine if Russia is going to quickly defeat them. But the Ukrainians out of desperation, with courage and determination fought off the Russians with valor honor. Although they had very little to fight with they knew they did not want to ever again live under another authoritarian regime of criminals like Putin.
Ukraine was deceived and betrayed by the former pro-Russian President V. Yanukovych. For that matter they were betrayed by America and many Western countries. But on her own, with minimal weapons and great courage, she repulsed the conquerors. The Ukrainian people have been living on the brink between life and death for 2 years now. Children have not been able to study normally for two years. Hospitals barely operate minimally and the economy is drastically hurt.
For two years, almost every day and night for 3-5 hours in a row, people live to the sound of air raid sirens. When leaving for work, they don’t know if they will be alive to return or whether they will see their relatives again in the evening. When they go to bed they don’t know whether there will be a morning for them or not. I don’t even speak for the defenders of Ukraine, I am referring to lives of innocent civilians. What they do is something few people can do. This is selfless heroism.
But instead of supporting, standing for what is right and helping, our politicians will not even look beyond their own selfish interests. One might say it’s a shame. But in this case it is more than shameful, it is a crime and a betrayal. After the signing of the Budapest Memorandum, we are obliged to protect Ukraine and they all trusted the promise of the United States. No help is a betrayal, this delayed and limited help is embarrassing and is an insult. If Russia is our adversary, why are we not helping Ukraine to neutralize this threat? And even if this document of protection did not exist, simply as the leader of the free world, the United States should come to the defense of all those who defend the values of freedom.
In the meantime, some politicians are relaxing on vacation, others are saying beautiful words, and others are not even hiding the fact that Ukraine is inconvenient for them.
The third year of this full-scale barbaric war has begun. It depends on us whether Ukraine will win this war against our greatest adversary or not. Whether “peace” will simply be declared by stopping aid to Ukraine and allowing Russia to keep the territory in Ukraine that they have stolen. This so called “peace agreement” will only give Russia the opportunity to update its reserves and advance their attack with renewed vigor.
Think about it. Let everyone think about their position. Later, subsequent generations will be ashamed that their parents were accomplices of the Russian invaders. Ask Europeans, they will say how ashamed they were of their parents who supported Nazi Germany and their allies.

Meanwhile, Kuleba is trying to increase recruitment:
“Kuleba calls on citizens who fled Ukraine during war to return and help defend our country”

That’s reasonable, but imho it should be made more attractive. It should be pointed out that there’s a chance to serve in support units, like drone operation and maintenance. And for combat troops, there should be a promise of training in a Nato country. Volunteers should get the confidence that they will be able to contribute their best capabilities and receive the best possible preparation for their jobs, unlike in the Russian army. However, to reduce fears, it would help very much if there were better news from the front. New ammunition can’t arrive soon enough! 🤨
