French presidential candidate from the far-right National Rally party Marine Le Pen, who entered the second round of elections, confirmed that she considers the occupation of Crimea by Russia legal.

The politician presented a similar version back in 2014, for which she was banned from entering Ukraine. Eight years later, she voiced confirmation of her approval of the occupier on the air of BFM.tv, reports Obozrevatel. Le Pen noted that Russia entered the territory of the Ukrainian peninsula only after the supposedly legal referendum.

“Residents of Crimea gave preference to the Russian government. Therefore, I have absolutely no regrets about what I said earlier, ”she said.

She also drew attention to the fact that she is absolutely not upset by the ban on visits to Kyiv, since she herself does not plan to travel to the capital of Ukraine. Nevertheless, Le Pen expressed the assumption that if she was elected leader of the French Republic, such a measure would be reconsidered for diplomatic purposes.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that Le Pen predicted France’s withdrawal from a number of structures of the North Atlantic Alliance in case of victory in the presidential election.
