According to Lecornu, the Ukrainians “are superior to us in their ability to imagine drones and, above all, to develop a corresponding doctrine.”

French automobile and defense companies will produce drones on Ukrainian territory, the head of the French Ministry of Defense Sebastien Lecornu said. 

As Le Monde writes , he called it a “win-win” partnership with Kiev.

“We are about to launch a completely unprecedented partnership in which a major French car company – I will not name it because it is their right to announce it – will join forces with a French defense SME to equip production lines in Ukraine to produce drones,” the minister said.

According to him, these drones, the type of which he did not specify, will be intended for Ukrainians.

“But we will also make them available to our own French troops to conduct ongoing tactical and operational training that reflects the reality of war in Ukraine,” he added. 

Lecornu argues that “there is no need to ask French citizens” to go and work on the production line that will be installed in Ukraine. According to the minister, the Ukrainians “are superior to us in their ability to imagine drones and, above all, to develop a doctrine for them.”
