France announced the resumption of production of SCALP cruise missiles after a 15-year hiatus

These missiles have shown their effectiveness during hostilities in Ukraine.

France, together with its partners, has resumed production of  SCALP/Storm Shadow cruise missiles for the first time in 15 years , which performed well during the war in Ukraine. This was announced by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu on his page on the X social network .

“Production of SCALP missiles to equip our armed forces will resume in 2025, 15 years after our last order,” he noted.

According to him, the Franco-British SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles transferred to Ukraine have shown their effectiveness in modern high-intensity combat operations and in decisive situations. 

“As a joint venture of France, Great Britain, Italy and Germany, MBDA is a symbol of Europe’s leading defense industry,” Lecornu assured.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron  made a loud statement about Europe’s support for Ukraine. According to him, European countries will continue to support Kyiv in the fight against Russian aggression.

Macron assured that Europe will never abandon Ukraine and added that the “coalition of the willing” will continue to seek a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.

“Every time Putin’s Russia advances in Ukraine, the threat approaches all of us, we will never accept the theory that the stronger is right,” the French leader assured.

It also became known that France has decided to replace its Boeing E-3F early warning and control aircraft (EWAC) with the Swedish Saab GlobalEy. According to experts, the new aircraft should be a replacement for the American Boeing E-3F Sentry, which have been in service since the 1990s. In addition, analysts answered whether Ukraine could receive such aircraft from France.
