50.8% of Ukrainians in 2020 used the Ukrainian language to communicate at home. This is the highest rate of use of the state language since 1991.
This is evidenced by the results of the study “Ukrainian society: monitoring of social change” of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Note that 27.6% of Ukrainians speak Russian (this is the second lowest result after 2015), and both languages are used by 21.3% of citizens (this is the second lowest figure after 2008).

We will add that according to last year’s research of the Kiev international institute of sociology, 57% of Ukrainians consider that in the future in the country will use mainly the state language, and 52,2% are convinced that the state should motivate the population to use the Ukrainian language.
