There are 2 kinds of Ukrainian units operating in the area. – Fast-Moving Hunter-Killer units with mobile drone support. They penetrate deep into the russian territory to take out weaker targets, create ambushes for incoming russian forces and provide intelligence. These guys are mainly driving along the roads and are now operating around 35-45km deep in the russian territory. So when now we are hearing reports of fighting some 10-ish km from Kursk NPP, it’s these guys.
– The Main Ground Force, they move slower and expand in all directions, not just roads. They are fighting any defenders that russia have in the area or reinforcements that have arrived. They are also fortyfying the positions for the imminent russian counter attack. These forces operate around 20km deep into the russian territory.

If the fighting is so close to the Kursk NPP, that is some going by Ukraine. It means the orcs are running around like headless chickens, and judging the report from Gerasimov, they are also clueless on how to solve the problem.
