In Kazakhstan , an opposition human rights activist previously convicted “for inciting hatred” was detained right at the airport. Yermek Narymbaev flew to Almaty from Kiev, he was immediately taken into custody.
This was reported by the Kazakh edition Tengrinews.kz .
According to the publication, which was received by the Almaty prosecutor’s office, Narymbaev was detained by employees of the police department for transport at the Almaty International Airport. A man convicted in absentia flew there from Kiev. Narymbaev was wanted.
The human rights activist was previously convicted under the article on “inciting social, national, tribal, racial, class or religious hatred.”
