According to the head of the White House, this package will strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, long-range and artillery capabilities.

US President Joe Biden assured that if approved by the Senate, he will immediately sign the law on assistance to Ukraine. This was announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky , who had a telephone conversation with the head of the White House.

The head of state noted that he is grateful to Biden for his unflagging support for Ukraine and for his true global leadership.

“We discussed the first defense aid package after the adoption of the law. I have the president’s assurances that it will be fast and powerful and will strengthen our air defense, long-range and artillery capabilities,” Zelensky said.

The President of Ukraine also noted bipartisan support for the bill and the personal role of Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

“Another decision of the House of Representatives – to allow the confiscation of Russian assets – sends a powerful signal to all our partners,” Zelensky emphasized.

He also told the US President about Russian air terror with thousands of missiles, drones and bombs.

“In particular, about the attack on the Kharkov TV tower literally a few minutes before the conversation. This is Russia’s clear intention to make the city uninhabitable,” Zelensky said.

He also noted that during the conversation he discussed with Biden the signing of a bilateral security agreement and preparations for the upcoming Peace Summit.

    • When you say Biden, I say… oops, excuse me please, what was that name again? Joe who? What has that guy seriously done for Ukraine in the last six long months? 🙄

  1. After dragging his feet and doing no strongarming at all for six months, Biden now tries to exploit Mike Johnson’s turnaround for his own benefit. As if he had done anything to make that happen! Color me unimpressed. 🙄

    • “One of the most impactful briefings, according to people familiar with the discussions, came in February in the Oval Office, when congressional leaders met with Mr. Biden to discuss government funding and aid for Ukraine. At that meeting, Mr. Burns and other top national security officials sought to impress upon Mr. Johnson how rapidly Ukraine was running out of ammunition, and how dire the consequences would be if their air defenses were no longer reinforced by American weaponry.”

      • Yeqh, ok, I had read about this, too, Larry, but imho that’s just business as usual, not a special effort. Of course, the Speaker of the House gets briefed on national security issues, that’s not really new. 🤔
