On the night of September 8-9, Novorossiysk in the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation came under attack by Ukrainian drones. A series of explosions were heard, followed by fires, in particular in the area of port infrastructure – a fuel oil terminal caught fire there.
Air raid sirens could be heard in the city. Russians shared footage of the hits and fires online, collected by the Exilenova+ channel.
Local residents said that the attack on Novorossiysk was massive. UAVs came from different directions, and mobile fire groups tried to work on them in the port.
The author of the Telegram channel “Dnipro Osint Garbuz” confirmed the damage to at least one tank on the territory of the fuel oil terminal.
Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal LLC is one of the leading enterprises of the Novorossiysk transport hub and is part of the Novorossiysk commercial seaport, the largest in Russia.
Meanwhile, Novorossiysk Mayor Andriy Kravchenko reported that the attack by Ukrainian drones had been repelled. According to him, fires broke out at several enterprises and near a residential building; there were no injuries initially.
As OBOZ.UA reported, after the Ukrainian strike on the facilities of the Novorossiysk port on August 12, crude oil exports from the Sheskharis terminal were suspended. From this terminal, the aggressor country Russia exports the flagship Russian Urals oil, as well as the Kazakh KEBCO blend and Siberian Light oil.
