“The continuation of freight traffic between Russia and Finland is no longer possible due to the sanctions imposed against the Russian Railways (RZD). VR Group is obliged to comply with the sanctions imposed by Western countries,” said Martti Koskinen, president of VR Transpoint.

VR Transpoint stops receiving trains from Russia on Sunday. At the same time, the return of wagons from Finland to Russia will continue.

The Ukrainian carrier Ukrzaliznytsia thanked Finland and other countries for their support and called for strengthening the railway blockade.

Ukrzaliznytsia calls for further continuation of the railway blockade of Russia and speed up the decision to stop the transit route between China and Poland, which runs through Russia and Belarus. Ukrzaliznytsia also called in an official letter to the members of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways to stop transportation with Russia and exclude its representatives from participation in international organizations and deprive them of the right to make any decisions,” the report says.
