Finam and BCS stopped the withdrawal of dollars and euros from clients’ brokerage accounts after the announcement of sanctions against the Moscow Exchange

Update: BCS also announced the suspension of the withdrawal of US dollars, euros and Hong Kong dollars from clients’ brokerage accounts, RBC 

reports . BCS is one of the largest brokerage companies in Russia.

Finam has stopped the withdrawal of US dollars, euros and Hong Kong dollars from the brokerage accounts of its clients, Interfax reports , citing the company’s press service.

“We will need some time to receive data from the exchange about the volume of blocked funds, make internal calculations and take the necessary actions so that investors have the opportunity to manage their funds,” Finam said.

Finam is one of the largest brokerage companies in Russia and operates on the Moscow Exchange.

On June 12, the US Treasury announced  the introduction of sanctions against more than 300 individuals and legal entities, both from Russia and from other countries, helping Russia to circumvent previously imposed restrictions. The sanctions included the Moscow Exchange, the National Clearing Center and the National Settlement Depository.

Due to sanctions, the Moscow Exchange announced the suspension of trading in US dollars and euros from June 13. The Central Bank announced that the exchange will not conduct trading in the Hong Kong dollar due to its peg to the American currency.
