Nigel Farage claims ‘The west provoked the war in Ukraine’.

Now that Nigel Farage is leader of Reform the cracks in his knowledge are starting to show. His claim that he was the ‘only one to predict a war in Ukraine’ might be true in very limited circles, but Mr Farage has made many predictions over the years, I’m sure this self-proclaimed prophet of doom wasn’t right every time.

The ‘west’ never provoked a war in Ukraine. To be in a position of political authority and make such a claim justifies Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the bombing of Ukrainian cities and war crimes such as the murder of civilians in Bucha. Ukrainians are considered by the majority of Europe to be heroes fighting against a terrible oppressor, so this statement is either political naivete, blind ignorance, or both.

Russia invaded Ukraine because Ukrainians wanted the political freedoms obtained by other states that were formerly part of the Soviet Block. Nations that after 1945, lost the rule of law, freedom of expression and religion. Countries like Hungary and Czechoslovakia who were invaded when they attempted to resist Russian hegemony. Millions were slaughtered, deported, imprisoned and ethnically cleansed under the communist regimes of the USSR. There was no rule of law, no human rights, only the rule of The Party and the law of the Party Leader.

It was not NATO nor ‘The West’ that was a threat to Russia, it was not the flabby, run down armies of Europe that scared Putin. It was the idea of genuine democracy. The threat to his autocratic dominance was ideological, not military. If there is any reason to blame the western democracies for the Russian invasion it was our pathetic and abject weakness.

Farage is wrong because his understanding of a complex subject comes from the back room of a pub in darkest fantasia.

One of the lessons of politics is to talk about subjects one knows and understands, to do otherwise opens one up to a wide field of ridicule. He does have some important and relevant cases to make. Like most politicians, he isn’t wrong about everything.

However, Nigel doesn’t know about Ukraine, so it is time for him to find people who do, and listen to them.

Princess Diana’s New Hair Style 1983

In 1983 Prince Charles (now King) and Princess Diana visited the SAS team that raided the Iranian Embassy in London in 1980. During the visit they were provided with black overalls and invited to drive two Range Rovers up to a building for a practise assault. This photograph was taken before the practise.

It was simple exercise with our team riding on the vehicles, throwing up ladders and entering the building. Before the assault Diana, unseen by the men, lowered her window by a few inches to allow some air inside. She drove the Range Rover, stopped in the correct position and the men threw their pyrotechnics otherwise known as ‘flash bangs’ into the building. These grenades released a large number of smaller explosions that sounded like gunfire. One exploded by Diana’s open window.

The flash ignited close to her head and the laquer on her hair began to burn. The man standing closest to her door quickly pulled her out and doused the flames with his gloved hands. Shocked but uninjured Diana and Charles were returned to Hereford and a local hair dresser was called to repair the damage.

This picture is the last time Diana had her well known round hair style. The following week top world magazines were full of reports about her new ‘page boy cut’ with trimmed sides. Women of the world imitated the style for years.

Unbenown to them this new vogue was all courtesy of B Squadron 22 SAS. 😁

Prof Roman Sheremeta has just commented:

“NATO provoked russia to attack Ukraine“

The brainwashed people such as Nigel Farage and Jeffrey Sachs continue to repeat russian propaganda that somehow NATO provoked russia to attack Ukraine.

First, the stupidity of this argument begins with plain ignorance. NATO never promised russia not to expand. The only formal agreement signed between NATO countries and the USSR, before its breakup in 1991, was the Treaty of Final Settlement with Respect to Germany, according to which there would be no NATO troops and no nuclear weapons in Eastern Germany.

Second, the stupidity of the argument comes from not understanding a simply law of cause and consequences. Until 2013, only about 20-30% of Ukrainians (depending on the poll) were in favor of joining NATO. After the annexation of Crimea, that number went up to more than 50%. And after the full scale invasion in 2022, 90% of Ukrainians say that they want Ukraine to join NATO. So, it is russian aggression (cause) that has pushed Ukraine towards NATO (consequence). It is russian aggression that forced Sweden and Finland to join NATO.

Third, there is a plain ignorance regarding the russian history. Over the past 100 years, russia attacked and invaded dozens of other countries. Just to name some:
1939 – Finland
1939 – Poland
1956 – Hungary
1968 – Czechoslovakia
1992 – Moldova
1994-1999 – Chechnya
2008 – Georgia
2014-2024 – Ukraine

Then why do these people continue to repeat russian propaganda? Great question. It could be a consequence of a childhood trauma, conscious ignorance, lack of critical thinking, lack of empathy, plain stupidity, you name it…

  1. I make no apologies for dwelling on the tovarish Faraginoff story, because it’s important that legislators in democracies change the law so that propagandists for putler are treated the same way as hitler propagandists. Whether they are far right fucktards like Faraginoff or far left tankies like Sachs, they need to lose their assets and be locked up until the end of the war. Certain ones, like Moscow Marge and Fucker Karlsonov, need something more draconian.

    • The West has been painfully slow – downright criminal – in its recognition that there are real problems with mafia propaganda, assassinations on its turf by the mafiosi, and their constant meddling in our internal affairs. This tolerance has borne an unfathomable amount of insecurity across the free world. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes in government, media, and corporations? Why are sanctions so weak and full of holes? Why are so many companies still pumping blood money? Why are our response times for Ukraine aid so slow and so pathetic? Why are no mafia planes ever downed when they’ve violated our airspace for the umpteenth time, sometimes even endangering our aircrews?
