Same-sex marriage, transgender transition and adoption of children by same-sex couples were banned in Georgia.
The Parliament of Georgia adopted the so-called “anti-LGBT” package of laws and amendments as a whole. 84 deputies voted for the relevant decision, while the opposition, which is boycotting the work of the parliament, did not participate in the vote, reports NewsGeorgia .

It is noted that this topic is part of the pre-election program of the ruling Georgian Dream party, which has declared itself as a fighter for traditional values.
“The amendments proposed by “Georgian Dream” provide, in particular, a ban on the registration of any marriages other than the union of a man and a woman, the adoption of minors by homosexual couples and gender reassignment operations. In schools, they want to prohibit the provision of information that can be interpreted as “propaganda of belonging to the opposite sex, same-sex relationships or incest.” Broadcasters, advertisers and cinemas will have to edit content taking into account the requirements of the law,” the publication writes.
According to the report, the law also prohibits gatherings that could be interpreted as LGBT propaganda — effectively any event attended by LGBT citizens.
“International organizations have expressed concern that in its current form, the “anti-LGBT” package consolidates stigmatization and will promote discrimination,” the media summarizes.
As you know, LGBT people were banned in Russia in November 2024 . In particular, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized LGBT as an extremist movement. Since then, the activities of the international community have been prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
