America is not alone in tiring of Ukraine war

Rumours swirl that the USA is tiring of the Ukraine war and looking for a way out, which will surprise nobody familiar with Washington’s fickleness towards the overseas causes it takes up.

Plenty of Ukrainians, bereft and impoverished, are sick of the conflict too. They reckon that war and ethnic cleansing have done their usual damage, and the country might well be better advised to let go of what it has lost since 2014.

It’s even suggested that President Volodymyr Zelensky, recently seen touring an arms factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is preparing his own exit strategy – which will involve blaming Nato for failing to help him properly. I still long to debate this sad episode with Al ‘Boris’ Johnson, but the blond warmonger seems unwilling to do so.

  1. Hitchens in 2014:

“The departure of Ukraine, within absurd borders, was one of those wild speculations (What, we all wondered, would happen to the Crimea, so very Russian yet ‘given’ to Ukraine by Krushchev in a thoughtless gesture). And we see the consequences to this day.”

    Hitchens in March 2023:

“Was there a plan to kill President Zelensky? I do not know what the source is for that. We are deep in the fog of war here.
Also is it entirely right to refer to Ukraine without qualification as a ‘free country’?  The last Ukrainian President elected by the whole electorate of that country was overthrown in a violent, lawless putsch in 2014, in which the constitutional rules were absolutely not followed. The country has since then had no true parliamentary opposition (and the nature of what opposition there is makes it easy for its leaders to be accused of support for Russia and so of treason) Its media are shut down arbitrarily on occasion.”

    Hitchens lies about Mariupol:

Hitchens has been putting out anti-Ukraine propaganda for more than 15 years. In 2010, he visited Crimea, interviewed a putinaZi admiral and a couple of putinaZi chicks in a bar in Sevastopol.
He described Ukraine as a “fanciful country.”
    Fucking bastard.

  2. Tovarisch Hitchenskov has the gall to refer to Boris as “the blond warmonger.”
Funny he’s never referred to putler as a “warmonger” isn’t it?

  3. If you click the hyperlink that Hitchens so helpfully provides, it goes to a truiy horrendous piece entitled :

“Sorry, Zelensky, Americans see a STALEMATE. The Russia-Ukraine war is increasingly viewed as unwinnable for either side, and while most support more military and economic aid, Republican voters now want Kyiv to cut a peace deal”

Obviously Hitchens loves that story. It is up to all decent people to ensure that it does NOT happen.

    • “If you click the hyperlink”

That article was from December, 2022.

One thing I noted was that the survey showed:

“Likewise, 47 percent of respondents say the US should push Ukraine to cut a peace deal with Russia, even if that involves Kyiv ceding territory, so that US householders don’t shoulder higher gas and food prices”

It seems to me that suggesting that not cutting a deal (and not giving up territory) would result in higher gas and food prices for Americans is an attempt to bias the results of the poll.
