On the night of Thursday, December 19, explosions were heard in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation . Local authorities announced a UAV attack, and then warnings of a missile threat were also received.

Local residents reported explosions in Taganrog, Rostov, Bataysk, Primorsky-Akhtarsk, and Novoshakhtinsk, the latter of which was an oil refinery. They posted footage online of the sound of “cotton”.

The network wrote that a downed drone had crashed in the private sector north of Rostov and a fire had broken out.

It was also reported that an oil refinery in Novoshakhtynsk was attacked and a fire broke out there.

Acting Governor of Rostov Oblast Yuri Slyusar said that Russian air defenses are repelling the UAV attack. According to him, 7 UAVs were destroyed, 6 of which were in Taganrog and 1 in Bataysk.

“According to preliminary information, there are no casualties or damage on the ground,” Slyusar wrote.

He later admitted that a fire broke out at the Novoshakhtyn Oil Products Plant as a result of a UAV attack. 

“Emergency and rescue units have arrived at the scene. Information about the victims is being clarified,” the official added. 

As OBOZ.UA reported, powerful explosions were heard in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, on the night of December 18. Locals also reported a fire and a strong smell of smoke in the city and its surroundings – possible arrivals at the Rostselmash plant.

In the evening, there was again a lot of noise in the Rostov region . According to preliminary data, there were rocket attacks on a metallurgical plant in the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, which is not far from the border with Ukraine. A large chemical plant was also hit.
