At the end of May 2026, the Russian occupation army sent reconnaissance units of the “VDV”, which are considered elite among the enemy forces, to storm the village of Stepnohirsk in the Zaporizhia region. The goal of the invaders was to create a propaganda image of the alleged occupation of the settlement with a subsequent report to the top leaders of the aggressor state.

Under the cover of night, rainy weather, and anti-radiation cloaks, the enemy group managed to infiltrate Stepnohirsk. However, the stormtroopers of the Artan special unit of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s GUR were prepared for such a development: they allowed the enemy to come closer and lured him into a trap.

Before entering the battle, the GUR special forces offered the Russians to surrender. However, instead of saving their lives, the enemy opened fire.

The result is in exclusive footage from the epicenter of the battle: a certain area of Stepnohirsk was cleared of “elite” saboteurs, and the flags they planned to take pictures with became trophies of Ukrainian military intelligence. The Artan fighters completed the mission to eliminate the enemy without losses.

“The enemy tried to act according to the classic doctrine of special operations forces: he used difficult weather conditions and means of radio-electronic camouflage to secretly penetrate the urban area. However, our calculated algorithm of actions and advance reconnaissance neutralized the effect of surprise,” explained the commander of “Artan” Viktor Torkotyuk.

He recounted how a group of Russian occupiers was effectively lured into a pre-prepared “kill zone.”

“They offered to surrender, but the enemy chose a different path. The so-called “elite” of the Russian army turned out to be unprepared for a meeting with the GUR’s systemic defense. Thanks to the dedication and professionalism of the fighters, coordinated interaction with adjacent units of the Department of Active Operations of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Forces of Ukraine, our borders in the sector of responsibility remain unshakable,” the commander of “Artan” emphasized.
