The development of this sensor was first revealed earlier this year, and now Vector drones equipped with it are being supplied to Ukraine’s Defense Forces
Ukraine’s Defense Forces have received the latest version of the Vector drone from Quantum Systems, now featuring unique acoustic artillery detectors and artificial intelligence.
This information comes from a post by Florian Seibel, founder of the manufacturing company, who shared a photo of the drone with the sensor produced by its subsidiary, Weles Acoustics, noting that Ukrainian troops are already using the upgraded version.
“No marketing. Trial and error, and an excellent team supported by investors who set the right tone very early,” Seibel wrote in his post.
As Defense Express previously reported, news of an acoustic artillery detector for the Vector drone first emerged at the beginning of this year. At that time, the system was still in the prototype stage, with mass production planned for the summer.
According to its technical specifications, the sensor can detect the direction of artillery or mortar fire at a range of 15 km, with an accuracy of 5 degrees at 5 km. This enables operators to identify the approximate location of enemy artillery and then pinpoint it much faster using the drone’s cameras.
