During the liturgy, the patriarch emphasized that this would be a concrete expression of the power of the Lord’s Resurrection.
During the night liturgy on Easter, Patriarch Bartholomew called on Ukraine and Russia to make a “Christian” gesture – to exchange all for all. As the spiritual leader of Orthodoxy said, it would be an eloquent expression for God on the occasion of a great holiday.

Bartholomew noted that he supports the initiative of the ” Our way out ” movement regarding exchange based on the principle of “all for all”. The Ecumenical Patriarch said:
“Spiritually, we support the initiative of “Our Exodus” regarding the exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine on the occasion of the great holiday of Easter. This would be a very concrete expression of the power of the Resurrection.”
Message of the Ecumenical Patriarch to Ukraine and Russia
As noted on the “Our Exit” page, the Russian organization appealed to the Patriarch on the occasion of the holiday with a request to support the relevant initiative. The appeal of the movement reads: “We, on behalf of the relatives of captured soldiers, ask you on this day of holy Easter, on the day of general forgiveness and the greatness of the Spirit, to call on the powerful of this world to exchange prisoners according to the principle of “all for all.”
It is noted that on the Catholic Easter, Pope Francis made a similar call for an exchange in the Vatican.
