The chancellor called on the Trump administration to make it clear to Putin that Europe and the US will continue to support Ukraine.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz insists on Europe’s participation in negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine.
“I am sure that there will be no solution that is possible without the participation of Ukrainians. And obviously, if someone wants Europe to participate in the structures of the world in the future, it is necessary to discuss this with Europe and integrate European leaders into these decision-making processes,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg.
Scholz added that European countries collectively spend more on Ukraine than the US:
“And this is the basis for saying that everyone should take us into account.”
At the same time, the Chancellor called on the administration of US President Donald Trump to make it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin that Europe and the US will continue to support Ukraine.
He also noted that the EU should relax its joint fiscal rules to give member states more investment space to ensure more defense spending in Europe.
“When it comes to Europe, I think we have to help every country. We have to change these agreements so that it is feasible for the country,” Scholz said.
