“We have a deal. Unity,” European Council chief Charles Michel said on X (formerly Twitter). “All 27 leaders agreed on an additional €50 billion support package for Ukraine within the EU budget. This locks in steadfast, long-term, predictable funding for Ukraine.”

Good news! Now all we need is the US to sort their shit out, then Ukraine can get on with the serious job of eliminating orcs and their weapons.

If I understand it correctly, it is c. $18 billion/yr for three years?
Is that for exclusively military aid?
At the moment the EU as an entity is behind the US, Germany and U.K. in terms of annual military aid. Obviously it needs to be at least a close second behind the US.
In any case, the EU and US must reach a quick agreement on sending all the putinaZi cash assets directly to Ukraine.
Ukraine needs to install a viable nuclear deterrent in double quick time. So all the money is needed urgently.
Zel and Zal apparently disagree over the need to mobilize 500,000 troops. That is frankly baffling, since Ukraine urgently needs that number and more. Whoever disagrees with that should just go.
I’m not sure what I’m saying but these 50 billion are intended to support the recovery, reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine above all. Borrell thinks that European military aid, very distinct, could approach 21 billion in 2024.
The Ukrainian economy assumes, I believe, most of the defense costs, apart from actual arms aid.
We must not forget one thing either. Of the 50 billion, there are 33 billion loans! Which shows how disgusting Orban’s actions are.
This money is not for weapons but for the regular state budget. Weapons and ammo are provided from other funds.
