A joint proposal is being developed aimed at a ceasefire, security, and post-war reconstruction
European states, together with Ukraine, are developing a 12-point plan to end the full-scale war along the current front line, thereby rejecting Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin’s new demands to the United States for Kyiv’s surrender and the transfer of territories in exchange for a peace agreement.
The proposed plan will be overseen by a peace council chaired by US President Donald Trump. After Russia follows Ukraine in agreeing to a ceasefire and both sides commit to refraining from territorial attacks, the plan includes the return of all deported Ukrainian children, an exchange of prisoners of war, security guarantees for Ukraine, funding for the country’s reconstruction and a fast-track path to joining the European Union, Bloomberg writes .
Sanctions against Russia will reportedly be gradually eased, but the roughly $300 billion in frozen reserves held by the Russian Central Bank will only be released after Moscow agrees to contribute to Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction. If Russia attacks again, the restrictions will automatically be reinstated.
In addition, Moscow and Kyiv will have to start negotiations on the administration of the occupied territories, but, as the publication’s sources emphasize, neither Europe nor Ukraine legally recognize these lands as Russian. At present, Russia rejects calls for a cessation of hostilities along the existing front lines, despite the colossal losses in four years of war.
The media writes that the details of the plan are still being finalized and may change. Its not koolaid when you ignore the efforts made. Just one example, which are often missing on your side, is the increase in NATO spending. Or is it because of koolaid they are paying up to 5% now? The PURL program? What about the oil tarriffs? More koolaid?
