Ukraine will be able to use these funds to purchase weapons.

The European Union plans to provide Ukraine with 1.5 billion euros per month in 2025 from excess profits coming from frozen assets of the Russian Federation . As reported by a UNIAN correspondent, President of the European Council Antonio Costa said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

Costa assured that Ukraine can count on the European Union to continue to be on its side.

“These are not just words. We will continue to provide humanitarian, economic, diplomatic, military and energy assistance,” the President of the European Council emphasized.

In particular, in the energy sector, the EU is helping to repair Ukraine’s energy generating capacities.

“This month, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional 4.2 billion euros to support the Ukrainian budget. In addition to this, starting next month (January) – we plan to provide 1.5 billion euros of assistance every month throughout the year,” Costa assured.

He explained that these funds would come from the proceeds of Russia’s frozen assets and could be used for military purposes.

Costa also promised that the EU would increase pressure on the Russian economy and further weaken Russia’s ability to wage war. Work is currently underway to prepare a 15th package of sanctions against the Putin regime.
