Some governments and companies have warned that the restrictions will pose a risk to energy security in the region.
The European Union is pressuring the United States to ease sanctions on Russia’s Gazprombank , Bloomberg reports .
The publication recalls that this financial institution is key to ensuring the supply of Russian natural gas to the EU. Discussions continue even after Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted a requirement that foreign buyers use only this bank when purchasing Russian gas.
“The EU and the US are discussing the type and scope of mitigation measures (imposition of restrictions – UNIAN) after some European governments and companies warned that sanctions would pose a risk to security of supply in the region,” media sources reported.
It is noted that during the negotiations, such options as making payments through the Luxembourg subsidiary of Gazprombank and using other payment channels are being considered:
“While Putin’s decree abolishing the requirement to pay directly through Gazprombank helped calm the European gas market, it further complicated the payment system and left financial institutions still uncertain about legal risks.”

The EU is worried that Russia is running out of money to make war in Ukraine…………………….HOLY MAGGY! Are they bribed?
The EU showing its true colors. Blood money is okay, as long as they get their fossil fuels.
It’s this sort of pathetic behavior that gives Trump ammo.
I want us to exit NATO. I’m afraid nothing else will get those assholes to wake up to reality, except the roach army in Poland and Baltics.
Exiting Nato would be a violation of core US national interests and would result in the impeachment of any ruling president.
We should still do it.
