4th Regiment: Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces Documentary

11/06/2026

The documentary series “Special Operations Forces” consists of 11 episodes focusing on the personnel, units, and combat operations of one of the most highly trained branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It highlights those who carry out the most complex missions, operate behind enemy lines, and contribute daily to the defense of our nation. The series was produced to mark the 10th anniversary of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, offering a look at their history, evolution, and the nature of modern warfare through the eyes of the service members themselves.

The fourth episode focuses on the 4th Regiment of the Special Operations Forces (SOF)—a unit established as part of the development of the SOF’s “Ranger” component. The creation of the 4th Regiment realized the vision of a group of SOF officers who sought to leverage their combat experience to build a more autonomous, heavily equipped, and high-caliber SOF unit. They turned this vision into reality. The Rangers now operate their own artillery, tanks, and long-range drones. The 4th Regiment’s combat history began during the full-scale war, starting with the Kursk operation. In this episode, we meet the regiment’s personnel, explore their training and combat operations, and learn about the experience of building this new Special Operations Forces unit.

The project was produced by the “Intellect Media” production studio with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian Youth Center, in cooperation with the Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Project partners: All-Ukrainian NGO “Young People’s Movement” (Molodyi Narodnyi Rukh), REC Rental, Pandora Studio, and “KOD”.
